Girls Falcon Face Off 411!
by posted 03/07/2013

The 6th Annual Girls' Avon Falcon Face Off is Almost Here!

Please join us on Sunday, May 19, 2013 for a great day of competitive Select Lacrosse for Senior Youth Girls Teams (7th and 8th graders).

Sponsored by the Avon Youth Lacrosse Club, we will again be hosting this event starting at 9AM (game times TBD) at the Avon Old Farms School in Avon CT. We will field both an A and B flight for Competitive Select Teams to insure a competitive and successful day for all teams.

Our format is a 45-minute running time game: (2) 20 minute halves with a (5) minute halftime and 15 minutes in between games.

Guarantee of 3 games. Top 4 teams play for the tournament title in both flights in 25 minute running time games. Semi-finalists
determined by head-to-head record (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss), goals against, and goals for. The day wraps by 4PM.

Food, music and lax merchandise will be on hand.

We hope to see you all there to support our girls!

SPRING 2013 LACROSSE!
by posted 01/01/2013

Hi everybody!

The AYL would like to wish you all avery happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

We know it's hard to wrap your mind around, especially with the mounds of snow everywhere, but the spring lax season is rapidly approaching!  Our registration starts tomorrow and runs through 2/1/2013!  After that date, a late registration fee will be incurred.  Please note that our program (and the sport of lacrosse overall) is growing--HOORAY!!!  We're stoked to have more and more boys and girls on the field!  That said, try to register your kids early!  We want to have the best idea possible about numbers enrolled so that we can build/staff our teams accordingly.  Additionally, upon registration, if you would please let us know in one of the open fields regarding conflicts with practice, if lax will be your child's main priority for the spring (i.e. that child would come to the the lax game over the baseball game or the flute lesson; we ask only to ensure even team building and player development!).

As many of you know, our program offers kids in kindergarten through grade eight the opportunity to experience lacrosse!  We will follow up with another email in the VERY near future about exact time commitments, but here is how it generally breaks down:

Developmental (K-2, Boys and Girls [projected practice days are for boys only at this time--we will update shortly]): Friday afternoons, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Bantam (Grades 3-4, Boys and Girls): Three days/week commitment; two practice days, one extra game day possible.  Additional lax jams/tournaments during the season.

Junior (Grades 5-6, Boys and Girls):  Four day/week commitment minimum.  In the junior boys division there are A and B teams.  The A team generally has one more practice than the B team. Both teams, and also divisions, play at least one game a week once the season is in full swing, and there are additional jams/tournaments/play-offs.

Senior (Grades 7-8, Boys and Girls):  Four day/week commitment minimum.  In the senior boys division there are A and B team.  The A team generally has one more practice than the B team. Both teams, and also divisions, play at least one game a week once the season is in full swing, and there are additional jams/tournaments/play-offs.

If you are new to our sport, WELCOME!  Please feel free to ask questions!  We look forward to seeing you all soon!

To all parents and friends of Avon Youth Lacrosse:

Our program, as many youth sports programs, is run entirely by volunteers.  We need your help!  Whether you are a life-long lacrosse player or fan, or new to the game, we have a role for you.  If interested in coaching, serving as team parent or board member, scheduling games, practices or tournaments, or helping with the website, please us to let us know.

Thanks to all our current volunteers -- we appreciate your support!
