Diane “Dee” Stephan has worked in athletics all her adult life. Dee has most recently spent the past nine years as the founder and director of the Dodgers Lacrosse and Field Hockey club. Dodgers is an elite travel lacrosse program that serves girls in grades 3-12 across 11 states. The program focuses on the development of players as athletes and emphasizes the importance of personal growth off the field. Through her role with Dodgers, Dee has had significant experience working with families through the college recruiting process. She has successfully placed many athletes at Division I, II and III colleges and universities where they have gone on to complete their degrees while holding roles as captains and regional All-Americans.
Prior to founding Dodgers, Dee spent 24 years as an educator and administrator in both the public and private school systems. She has served as Athletic Director at Canton High /Middle School as well as at The Ethel Walker School. Additionally, Dee’s teams have enjoyed great success in the postseason. At Canton High School, Dee led her team to its first state tournament appearance in program history in only her 2nd year at the helm. Her teams at Ethel Walker have also earned two WNEPSA Class C titles and five consecutive league titles. She coached numerous All-Conference players, four All-Americans and 10 Academic All-Americans. A testament to her ability to develop players, Dee’s athletes from every school she has coached at have been selected to represent Connecticut at The National Tournament.
Outside of her work in schools, Dee was a founding member of the Avon Youth Lacrosse program and has coached girls in grades 1-8 for more than twenty years. Dee has also spent time coaching collegiately at The University of Saint Joseph and as an assistant Field Hockey Coach at Syracuse University.
Dee Stephan has held several leadership positions at the state and national level. She is a member of the Connecticut Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class of 2010 and is also a former member of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors (2011-2016), the Women’s Game Committee, the Sports Science and Safety Committee, and the Women’s Rules Committee. Dee currently serves as the Team Manager for the U19 Women’s Puerto Rico Team that will play in the World Championships this August.
